SHAMANI SHIKWAMBI, ED. D

Board Member

Shamani Shikwambi is passionate about education, mentoring and making a difference in underrepresented communities especially first-generation college students.

He currently serves as the Dean of Liberal Arts, Business and Technical Program at Northland Community and Technical College, a multi-campus institution Minnesota, USA. Before that he served as the Dean of Academics at Dawson Community College in Montana. Also, prior to that he served as a tenured Associate
Professor and departmental chair of the Early Childhood and Special Education department in the School of Education at Middle Georgia State University in Macon, Georgia. He also served as the founding National Coordinator of the National Early Childhood Development (NECD) – Nongovernmental Association of Namibia.

Among his scholarship work, he has peer-reviewed the Curriculum Framework for Children in Namibia Aged 3 and 4 Years entitled: Have Fun! Play is Learning! for the Republic of Namibia’s Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare in 2013. Developed a Study Abroad course for Macon State College entitled: Southern Africa Multiculturalism and Human Rights. Furthermore, he led a Fulbright Hays P-20 educator to Namibia and South Africa serving as the lead curriculum developer for a P-20 curriculum
entitled: Southern Africa Curriculum - Family Life, Environment and Nation Building.

Shamani’s academic qualifications include a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a Master of Arts
in Education from University of Northern Iowa, USA, a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communications and Psychology from Concordia College, Moorhead, Minnesota, in addition to an
Associate of Arts from Waldorf College, Iowa. He holds various Certifications including a Graduate Scholar in Health Disparities with the Iowa Projects EXPORT Certificate, a Diversity, Equity and
Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate from the University of South Florida, and a Strategic Planning certificate from the Society of Colleges and Universities Planning.
