Caregiver receives meat slicer business start-up kit

IntraHealth Namibia, through the USAID-funded Reach Namibia project, has provided a meat slicer business start-up kit to a project beneficiary in Nyangana District, Kavango East region. This handover is part of the economic strengthening activities aimed at improving the livelihoods of households through sustainable income-generating activities.

IntraHealth Namibia Celebrates 10th Anniversary

IntraHealth Namibia launched its 10th Anniversary celebrations in Windhoek on Friday, 23rd August 2024. The event saw representatives of development cooperation partners, government officials, private sector representatives and former staff members coming together to reflect on and celebrate the organisation’s work for the past decade.

Sixty Caregivers and their Children Complete Training on Parent-Child Relationships

Sixty caregivers and children from Nyangana, Mbambi and Shamagorwa villages in Kavango East Region were on Saturday, 20 July 2024 awarded with certificates for completion of the Ehafo Letu parenting program.

Healing Light Workshops

In September 2020, Intrahealth Namibia through the KP-STAR project in collaboration with Alkimia consultation conducted a three-day online workshop. The training targeted 150 Health Care Workers (HCW’s) who serve the key populations (KP’s) in 10 high priority regions. The aim of the workshop was targeted at supporting HCW’s to be able to give empathetic and appropriate care to people who make up the specific key populations of men who have sex with men, transgender men, transgender women and sex workers supported by a job aid and information poster.

On 14 October 2020, the newly appointed USAID Deputy Chief of Mission, Jessica Long and Acting USAID Representative Michelle Russell visited WBCG's recently opened KP Friendly Wellness Container Clinic in Gobabis.

U.S. Chargé d’Affaires visits Oshikango

On Thursday, 11 March 2021, the U.S.Chargé d’Affaires, Ms Jessica Long and Acting USAID Country Representative, Ms Michele Russell visited the Walvis Bay Corridor Group's (WBCG) Key Population (KP) Friendly Wellness Container Clinic in Oshikango. This was to familiarise themselves with the clinic's operations, the role of peer navigation and HIV prevention, care and treatment services targeting key populations and other vulnerable groups along the Walvis Bay corridors. The Ministry of Health and Social Services in partnership with the Key Population-Strengthening Technical Assistance and Response for Sustainable HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment (KP-STAR) consortium partners, including WBCG, under the leadership of IntraHealthNamibia with funding from PEPFAR through USAID is supporting the provision of clinical services at the WBCG clinics.

Mitigating the impact of COVID-19 on KPs in Namibia

The COVID-19 pandemic is having a devastating impact on every aspect of life with most people facing loss of livelihoods and inadequate safety nets. However, at the closest receiving end of these effects are Key Populations and vulnerable people, specifically sex workers, men who have sex with men and transgender people.
